Self-Directed Learning
At LAL, our work is guided by a strong commitment to Self-Directed Learning grounded in a discovery-based methodology. We believe that children learn best when they actively construct knowledge, explore ideas, and progress autonomously at their own pace and at their appropriate level, supported by continuous feedback. Our learning journey follows a structured progression: learners begin by activating prior knowledge (“I Start”), connecting new concepts to what they already know (“I Recall”), engaging in guided exploration and inquiry (“I Discover”), and reflecting on their understanding to consolidate learning (“I Have Learned”). This process culminates in activities and problem-solving tasks that allow students to apply their knowledge in meaningful, real-world contexts, fostering independence, critical thinking, and ownership of learning.

Access to quality education
Many children and youth continue to face barriers to quality education due to conflict, displacement, economic hardship, school disruption, or limited internet access. Conventional e-learning tools often fail in low-connectivity or device-limited environments, widening existing learning gaps.

We develop free-to-access, low-tech, and offline-enabled digital learning designed to function in challenging environments. Our solutions are co-created with educators, aligned with curriculum goals, and adaptable for use in formal classrooms, homes, and diverse alternative learning spaces.
