SUFA (Sustainable Facilities Management)

SUFA stands for Sustainable Facilites Management at Public Schools in Lebanon. GIZ and its commissioning partner, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), financed this project. It is jointly implemented with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE).

SUFA sustainable facilities management

The SUFA program will support the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education in managing their facilities in a more efficient and eco-friendly way. It will achieve this by ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the children, reducing the schools’ environmental footprint and operating costs, promoting the concept of Green Schools, and strengthening the digital capacities of schools in Lebanon.

This project thus engages students in inquiry-based projects to create environmental awareness. In fact, LAL has developed 15 environmental inquiry-based projects, 13 socio-economic projects, and 9 communication/digital literacy projects for SUFA. Even though these are different units, they share a common goal: to raise awareness of the students on their environment and to provide teachers with project-based resources to enhance learning.
